Understanding the 4 Cs
Choosing a diamond comes down to four things. We'll walk through each one in person, with stones in hand, so you can see what these mean in real life.
Cut
The most important factor for sparkle. A well-cut diamond reflects light brilliantly; a poor cut looks dull regardless of size.
Color
Graded D (colorless) through Z (yellow tint). Most center stones we set fall in the near-colorless range, where the eye sees no color.
Clarity
A measure of internal inclusions. We help you find the sweet spot where a stone is eye-clean without paying for invisible perfection.
Carat
The weight of the stone. Two diamonds at the same carat can look very different on the hand — proportion and cut matter just as much.

How long does a custom engagement ring take to make?
Most custom engagement rings take four to six weeks from first sketch to final ring. Simpler settings can be ready in three weeks; more intricate designs or special stone sourcing can take longer. We'll give you a clear timeline at your first appointment so you can plan around it.
What's the difference between lab-grown and natural diamonds?
Lab-grown and natural diamonds are chemically identical — both are real diamonds. The difference is origin: natural diamonds form in the earth over billions of years, while lab-grown diamonds are produced in a controlled environment in weeks. Lab-grown stones cost roughly 40–60% less for the same size and quality. We'll walk you through the trade-offs in person.
Do you offer payment plans or financing?
Yes. We offer flexible in-house payment options and can work with you on a plan that fits your timeline. Bring it up at your appointment and we'll talk through what makes sense for your project.
Can you redesign or incorporate an heirloom diamond?
Absolutely. Some of our most meaningful work has been built around a stone passed down through a family. We can reset an heirloom diamond into a new design, or rework an existing piece into something that feels like yours.

Where are your diamonds sourced from?
We source GIA-certified natural and lab-grown diamonds through trusted, vetted suppliers. Every center stone we set comes with documentation. If sourcing or ethics are important to you, ask — we're happy to share specifics.
Do I need an appointment to start a custom ring?
Walk-ins are welcome, but for custom design we strongly recommend an appointment. It gives Ned or Phil dedicated time to talk through your ideas, look at stones together, and start sketching without interruption.
What if I don't know exactly what I want?
Most people don't — and that's exactly when working with a custom jeweler helps most. Bring whatever you have: a saved photo, a partner's Pinterest board, a vague feeling. We'll ask the right questions and show you options that bring the picture into focus.
